New Yorkers honored the memory of those killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Recall, 15 years ago, terrorists, controlling captured passenger aircraft, attacked the towers of the World Trade Center and the Pentagon building.

During the terrorist attacks, about three thousand citizens were killed. Twenty-four people are still considered to be missing.

The ceremony in memory of the victims was held at the memorial, erected on the very spot where once stood the three towers of the World Trade Center.

The Americans began to gather in the place of the ceremony in the morning. At nine o'clock people honored the memory of the victims of terrorism with a minute of silence. The time chosen for the start of the ceremony was not accidental - the first terrorist-run aircraft crashed into one of the towers of the World Trade Center at about nine o'clock in the morning.

Famous American politicians visited the event. So, at the ceremony in New York, US President Donald Trump (in the photo) and his former opponent, Democrat Hillary Clinton, visited the ceremony.

The former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, delivered a speech in memory of those who died on September 11, 2001, at a ceremony in the Pentagon.

Pilots and passengers of Flight 93 United Airlines have a separate monument. The fourth aircraft, flying this flight, had to crash into one of the towers of the World Trade Center, but the aircraft did not fly to New York, falling in Pennsylvania.

In other American states, there were also ceremonies in memory of the victims. For example, residents of Illinois installed three thousand flags in one of the parks, each of which became the embodiment of victims of terrorist attacks.

During the terrorist attacks of September 11, citizens from 92 states, including the United States, were killed.

The events from 15 years ago caused panic in American society. On the day of the terrorist attacks, all commercial air flights were canceled. Aircraft flying to the US were banned from landing on the territory of the country.
