The plane travelled from Paris to Cairo. There were 56 passengers and 10 crew members on board. 15 France citizens, 30 Egyptians, citizens of Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Chad, Portugal, Algeria and Canada took the MS804 flight.

It's been a while until the plane crash was confirmed officially. The authorities of Egypt, France and Greece were collecting information to prove the fact of air disaster during several hours.

The Sky News Arabia channel was the first one to report about Airbus A320 missing from radars. EgyptAir representatives confirmed that the plane had managed to signal its distress ten minutes before it disappeared. However, a black box can automatically send such a signal after a crash, some experts say.

The debris hasn't been found yet. The plane is thought to have crashed near the Greek island of Karpathos (approximately 280 km from Egypt). Merchant seamen became the first indirect witnesses of the crash. Thus, the captain said that he had seen a fireball in the sky not far from a possible place of crash, and it was just at the moment when the Airbus disappeared from radars. The Greek Ministry of Trade Fleet has not confirmed this information.

The authorities of Egypt and France consider all possible events which could cause the disaster, including a terrorist attack. However, most experts believe that the aircraft had a technical defect - a few years ago this very plane made a forced landing in Cairo due to engine problems.
